About this place
At lunchtime, the choice at Rakki-tei is ramen, curry, or a little of both. Noodles can be paired with rice dishes, so you can tailor your meal to your appetite. Diners have described the curry rice as homestyle and old-fashioned, with generous chunks of potato; its vegetable sweetness is followed by a lingering heat. The menu also offers curry topped with chicken katsu, potato croquette or ham katsu, giving you a way to change up the meal with fried toppings while keeping curry at the centre. One diner who ordered the service-lunch chicken katsu curry reported that it came with miso soup, shredded cabbage, a boiled egg and fukujinzuke pickles.
For a noodle lunch, choices include ramen, tanmen, ramen with a thickened bean-sprout topping, spicy negi miso ramen and tsukemen, or dipping noodles. One diner enjoyed ramen with mini fried rice, describing the pairing as light soy-flavoured noodles and simple fried rice. Another recalled a tanmen with vegetable-filled salt broth and medium-thin curly noodles. Add mini curry, half-size curry or half-fried rice to noodles for a different combination; you can also order a larger serving of noodles or add rice. It is a flexible menu for a lunch when choosing just one dish feels difficult.
Weekday lunch is served from 11:00 to 14:00. In Shiba, Rakki-tei is a casual diner where lunch can be built around curry or noodles, with miso soup and smaller rice dishes available as accompaniments.
